Toronto, Niagra Falls, and Temple Square

Remember a few months ago when I said I would be posting some of my photos from my trip to Toronto. Well here they are along with a few others photographs I have taken over the past few months since Toronto. This past March I bought a pretty cool new laptop and things have been great since.

This past Christmas season some friends/neighbors and I went to Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah to look at the Christmas lights that the church puts on display there every year. This is was my second year going and seeing those lights and it was a blast. Following the lights we went to Denny's and had some hot chocolate before heading back to Provo.

Anyway with out further adieu, here are the photos from Toronto, Niagra Falls, and Temple Square.

Toronto and Niagra Falls

I recently went to Toronto, Canada and to Niagra Falls and took several hundred pictures while I was there. I am currently sorting through the photos deciding which ones to put up. Also both of my computers have recently died so that is another reason why I have not posted anything recently. Photos of Toronto and Niagra Falls coming soon!

Zeus The Doberman

Back in April of this year, my brother purchased a beautiful male pure bred Doberman. He named him Zeus. This past Spring and Summer, I have laughed so much thanks to Zeus. I am really going to miss him when I return to Utah. I recently taught him how to shake hands and to my surprise it took only a couple hours to teach him. This post are recent photos I have taken of Zeus who, is now 10 months old.

Ants, Clouds, Moon and 10 second exposures

I love my Nikon D5000, it is one of the best investments I have made. Last week a friend and I decided to do something about the ant problem in my front yard so we grabbed the waterhose, turned it on full blast and gave the ants a taste of what they might consider extreme hurricane conditions, think Katrina, but with ants. Their response and first responder team was by far a lot faster than FEMA's was as they had relocated about 10 feet north and had rebuild an even bigger and better hill than their previous one. Also, there was another really cool moonrise here in Austin so I got home as fast as I could, grabbed my camera and a stepladder that I used as a tripod, and snapped a few photos.

A few weeks a go I was conversing with my best friend Andrew who is also into photography and recommended that I try shooting some photos using the manual exposure mode. So I set the camera to manual mode and set the shutter for a 10 second exposure. The following are the results of those events. Also the photos seemed to lose A LOT of quality after I uploaded them on to here just click on the picture and you will get the higher quality image.

Lake Austin and Town Lake Photos

On Monday the ward had a boating and bbq activity which was fun. Some of the ward members and I swam across part of the lake which was a longer and tougher swim than I thought and we got picked up by a police officer patroling the river. The four of us would have gotten fined 500 dollars each but one of the swimmers was works in law enforcement and knew the officer in the boat so he let us off with a warning.

Before jumping in Lake Austin, I managed to get some pretty cool photos.

On Thursday morning my brother and I went to Town Lake and I took a few photos there as well. Here are the photos from Lake Austin and Town Lake.

My first engagement photo shoot

Back in May right before I left for my new job in Texas, some good friends of mine called me up and asked me if I could take their engagement photos for them because their original photographer bailed on them literally at the last minute. I had sold my Sony DSC H2 about two months earlier to save up for my digital SLR camera which as of a few weeks ago is a Nikon D5000. To solve this no camera dilemma, I called my sister who had just bought a digital Fuji camera. So there I was nervous about taking photographs for a couples engagement announcement and with a camera that I was not in the least bit familiar with. After the couple came over we discussed possible shooting locations. Amanda had one place in mind as did I. The first place we went was to a set of railroad tracks in Provo. I did not know how to do poses so I just asked Amanda if she had any poses in mind and I used those to get my creative juices flowing. We spent about 45 minutes at the railroad tracks, and then we went to Nielsens Grove in Orem. We spent about an hour there and the following photos are my some of my favorites from the shoot.

Photos from 2008

So I have really been slacking off and as you can tell have neglected this blog. So to start things off I have uploaded my best photos from 2008. These photos were taken with a Sony DSC-H2. It is not an SLR but I will be purchasing one of those soon. I am planning on visiting New York and Washington D.C. in the Spring or Summer and am looking forward to the photos that I take while I am there. As for these photos, please let me know what you think.

This First Picture I took about half a block from where I reside. It had just finished raining.

This one was taken at a bonfire in April at
Vivian Park in Sundance Canyon.
